With around 50 days to go to the big day, we've started to send out invitations to the wedding receptions. I've already mailed out most of my invitations, and we've started inviting friends on Facebook and through WhatsApp. Some of my friends have already asked me, "So, what do you want as a wedding gift?"
My first initial response was: "Not the typical Malaysian wedding gift like cutlery set or Corelle set or things like that please", as there are sure to be people who will give those. Not that we don't appreciate it, we do, but we would also like to ensure that there are no wastage and that people don't buy redundant gifts that ended up in storage or being re-gifted to others.
To help our friends out in choosing/picking out gifts, we decided that perhaps having a wedding gifts wish list on our blog would be helpful. I mean, American couples typically have a wedding registry (like on Amazon, or any other wedding registry websites) where their friends and families can order things and have it delivered to them straight away. But in Malaysia, wedding registries are not that common, so we thought a wedding wish list may be more feasible.
It's not an absolute wish list though, you are definitely more than welcome to buy anything that is not listed here, or choose not to give anything (no hard feelings, it's definitely not required of you, especially if you're tight on budgets, though we appreciate the thought and prayers). You can use this as a guide or inspiration, and hopefully you wouldn't get stuck on thinking of what to buy for us (if you're buying anything, that is)
